Yet, as Ryvaan rose to her feet, Leech Lass was nowhere to be seen. There was no trace of the large woman...
None infront of Ryvann, that was.
Powerful hands wrapped around her body, and Ryvann was locked against Leech Lass's body. The larger woman's arms were wrapped around the neck and torso of the girl, like a little girl restraining a puppy in her grip. . Then, she leaned forward in free fall, to pin Ryvann beneath her weight...

Ryvann cursed herself, pain still fogging up her mind. Seeing she had little chance in this state to escape, she decided to buy herself a little more time to counterattack. Channeling the power of the earth into herself, Ryvann hardened her body, making it hard and dense like rock. When Leech Lass slammed her into the ground, she would find Ryvann's body much more resilient than she had initially anticipated.
While underneath the crushing embrace of Leech Lass, Ryvann began to channel more mana into her body. She was still in pain, but she would have to fight through it. She just needed to last long enough to let her strength surge to break her free...

"Hard... You became.... a rock..." Leech Lass raised an eyebrow in confusion.
Was this... allowed?
She wrapped her arms and legs tighter around the hardened Ryvann, and squeezed with more and more of her strength. Maybe if she broke through the hardened exterior with more brute force...
"AND RYVANN PULLS A SURPRISING MOVE OUT OF HER SLEEVES!" The announcer boomed into the microphone. "With nowhere else to go, she's become like a humanoid rock! Can Leech Lass break through this hardened exterior? Does Ryvann have another trick up her sleeve to escape?"

Thoughts raced through Ryvann's head within the grasp of Leech Lass. Though her body was hardened, she couldn't maintain this spell for long; it was eating through her innate reserves at a rapid pace. She could feel the immense strength of her foe gripping her tighter and tighter, like a serpent with a rat in its coils. Ryvann's teeth gritted as her mind raced. She DID have one more trick up her sleeve that could get her out of this, but it'd be a rough one to pull off. it was nonlethal thankfully, but it'd need precise timing and perfect execution to avoid getting taken out for the count.
Ryvann braced herself, preparing to utter the incantation silently. Releasing the spell that hardened her body, Ryvann let out a quiet utterance just as Leech Lass's muscular arms and legs crushed her body tightly. The pain was severe, but it quickly subsided. Erupting from Ryvann's frame was a powerful blast of wind, strong enough to send the powerful form of Leech Lass rolling away! Taking the opportunity to recover her breath, Ryvann slowly pushed herself to her feet. Exhaustion and pain was evident on her face, though she refused to back down. she had something to prove here, after all.
From the sidelines, the muscular orc referee looked to the announcer's box, before looking back to the battle unfolding. Were they going to let that one slide?

"AND OF COURSE SHE DOES!" The announcer booms. "With powerful and creative application of magic, she lets out an air pulse to knock Leech Lass back! It's clearly a non-lethal use of magic to level the playing field, so it's allowed here!"
Leech Lass rolled onto her feet, and shakily rose up. To think that her opponent could do that... "So... magic is allowed?" Leech Lass asked, her head tilted in confusion. "I thought-"
"Only when it isn't lethal, or gives an overwhelmingly unfair advantage." The announcer explained.
Leech Lass's eyes shimmered with an azure blue hue. "Very well then.. Brute Force will continue to suffice."
Leech Lass leaned forward, and jammed her hands into the earth. Her hair began to writhe and squirm, and the towering woman charged, as if straight toward Ryvann dead on, but at the last moment, she twisted her body, planted her hands back into the earth, and swung both of her legs into Ryvann's side...

The referee seemed to grimace at the announcer's call. Hopefully this would not set a bad precedent for future fights. This was an arena, not a mage's duelist ring.
Meanwhile, Ryvann's pain left her woozy and off-balance, but she made sure to keep her eyes trained on Leech Lass. Having seen Leech Lass pull a similar maneuver earlier in the match, Ryvann dropped herself to the floor, causing the massive woman's blow to sail over her body! Grunting from the pain of landing on much of her already bruised and battered body, Ryvann pushed her body against the ground, rotating her body so her feet were facing her opponent, before she pushed herself forward with all her might and lashed out with a kick to Leech Lass's gut!

The feet struck into Leech Lass's gut, and the towering woman winced as she felt her stomach be pushed in... yet as her body reflexively bent in from the strike, Leech Lass's arms detatched from the ground and grabbed Ryvaan's feet. With a big dumb grin, she kicked off against the ground with her right foot, and twisted herself so she could swing Ryvaan down back first into the ground, then dig her own knees into her stomach in retaliation...

The impact of Leech Lass' slam rattled Ryvann's body intensely, sending waves of aching pain down her back, through her shoulders and across the back of her head. The woman was dazed for a moment, but a moment was all Leech Lass needed to land her crushing blow. The impact of Leech Lass' body, coupled with her immense strength, crushed Ryvann's gut, knocking the air out of her and causing her to dry heave from the pain.
The originally cool and collected Ryvann kicked into a reflexive panic from the attack; her next move was purely an instinct, rather than any premeditated assault on Leech Lass. A surge of adrenaline entered Ryvann's head, before she unleashed a scalding torrent of deep red fire right into Leech Lass' face!
"A'ight, I can't stand by while that's happenin'," the burly orc referee growled to the announcer, as he approached the downed form of Ryvann to penalize her.

The flames struck Leech Lass square in the face and engulfed her head. The audience gasped as the towering woman was caught completely by surprise from the fire, and her head was consumed by the inferno. She staggered away from Ryvaan, and stood motionless as her head was a raging inferno.
Then, she shook her head, and the flames were blown away. The face of Leech Lass was covered in burns and soot, but surprisingly nothing too severe. A few embers nibbled on her blue hair, and her face mask was burned as well. She blinked once, then twice, as if uncertain as to what actually happened.
"That... that hurt." She wimpered. Behind the tiny face mask, her face began to scrunch up, and her eyes twitched and wettened.
"THAT HURT!" The giant woman sounded more like a ten year old who had stubbed her toe on the corner of a chair than a professional fighter who had her face scorched. Her eyes narrowed on Ryvaan, and the building anger and hurt that gathered within her began to boil over.
She arched her body forward, and her hair began to writhe like a sea of serpents. She had been HURT, BURNED by her! She has BROKEN the rules! That... THAT MEANIE!
Yet, as she built up energy for one spiteful strike, she noticed the referee draw near. She stopped, and she felt her body calm itself. Her hair returned to normal, limp and dead, and she simply observed with a curious, yet pained expression...
"What a strange turn of events! Ryvaan cooks Leech lass's face with actual magical fire, yet all it did was piss her off! Yet it seems she only pissed off the ref more than her opponent!" The announcer exclaimed. "Let's see what unfolds!"

Shocked at what she had done, Ryvann staggered to her feet. The warrior's eyes glanced down, seeing the trails of steam rising up from her mouth. Had... had she really done that? She hadn't even thought about using her fire... and yet she nearly burned her competitor's face off...
"O-oh god," Ryvann mumbled to herself, her eyes wide in horror.
From behind her, a burly hand wrapped itself around the back of her as she was suddenly lifted up and brought face-to-face with the big burly orc from before.
"A'ight, you've had your fun skirtin' the rules," the announcer said with a huff, before flinging Ryvann across the arena, sending her tumbling out of bounds. He looked towards Leech Lass. "Blue girl's th' winner."

"AND THAT IS THE RULING!" The announcer boasted. "Due to her little fire outburst, Ryvann is disqualified from the tournament! Leech Lass is your winner and will proceed to the semi-finals!"
The crowd erupted into a mixed uproar. While there were those who cheered Leech Lass's name loud and clear, there were also those who were less than thrilled with the results.
"The fuck? That's just arbitrary ruling! There's nothing against magic use!"
"This is biased! Ryvann had her on the ropes!"
"Of course the ref goes for the big tiddy waifu. Orcs love their big tiddy waifus..."
Leech Lass however was seemingly oblivious to the split crowd. She was still shaking, yet the burns and scars from Ryvann's flames closed themselves within seconds. She stopped shaking, and she stood up straight, before she looked over at the out of bounds Ryvann.
"Next time, let's have a go at it with no rules! It'll be more fun like that!"
On the sidelines, the mermaid pair had been watching the fight closely. Krepie's eyes had been glued upon Leech Lass the entire time. There was definitely something about that masked woman, something that was sending alarm bells through her mind, but she couldn't quite piece together why.
"She... She just... took those flames and... they only angered her." Prima stammered. The mermaid's eyes were wide with shock. "Despite all the magic... thrown her way... she didn't even care."
"Prima, relax. Whomever wins the next round will take her on... and we won't have to deal with that oversized bitch." Krepie said, yet there was an air of uncertainty to her voice. "And even if she wins that... we'll take down the faun easy, and take her down as well. Two against one, we hold the cards."
"Y-yeah... You're right. We definitely have this." Prima took in a gulp of air, and banished her worries away. "Big blue bitch is goin-"
"Mind if I take a seat beside you two? You seem to have candy on you."
Both mermaids were caught flatfooted by Leech Lass's sudden appearance before them. Both scooted away from her on reflex, yet that had simply split them apart, and given Leech Lass a seat between them. The bench groaned and buckled, but it maintained the woman's heavier weight.
"Oh... you don't have food. You just smell like it."
Both twins could barely hide the growing anger and disbelief behind their faces. First this obese walrus flipped them off, and now she was treating them like SNACKS?! Prima's face was boiling red, and it took everything she had to not flip.
Krepie, meanwhile, only kept feeling more uneasy. Why did this... Why did she feel this sinking pit in her stomach?
"And now, the final match of the first round!" The announcer boomed. "Can our combatants please take to the stage?"

At the announcement, the armored woman emerged from the fighters' tent, a grin on her long face and violence in her eyes. She began walking, not to the center of the arena, but around it, so that she passed the disqualified Ryvann.
"You disappoint me, freedom fighter," she told the fallen warrior in her low, strained voice. "You bring fire, but no burns? Next time, summon the full blaze."
Meanwhile, across the ring, Bugbear stumbled from the medical tent, his tunic bloodied and his cloak slipping from his shoulders, eventually falling to the ground at his feet. He didn't seem to notice.
"Who'sh fhighting?" he slurred, a hairy hand clutching his head. His domino was gone, revealing a series of deep, scarred-over punctures across his brow.

Behind the audience in the stands, Brutus turned towards the faun next to him and grinned, displaying large canine teeth. "Guess the Bull's up next, eh Red?"
"Yeah," grunted Phanna in reply. She had observed the previous match in silence, carefully studying Ryvann's and Leech Lass's techniques.
With a groan, the orc placed his burly hands against his hips and stretched his back. "Cheer up, will ya' Red? Go visit with th' kid while I fight. Think'n ya have 'bout five min's."
He clapped Phanna's shoulder and strode off down the stands to the roar of the crowd.

"It's going to be a spicy end to our first round, as our combatants are large and in charge!" The announcer boomed. "He's big, he's mean, and he's a fighting machine not unlike our own ref! That's right, Brutus takes the stage!"
As the orc in question entered the arena, the cheers of the crowd chanted his name, as one unified voice.
"And his opponent, the daredevil herself! She only has one direction, and that is forward! If you're in her way, she will bowl you over! That's right, Mahla is here!"
The lights flashed upon Mahla as she moved past Ryvaan, and a loud wave of chants and screams in her name sounded off...

As the next battle began, Ryvann pushed herself up from the floor and dusted herself off. Inside her head, she repeated Mahla's words to her. Was she really that weak? Was she that poor of a fighter that she could barely scratch her opponent? It sure seemed like it. That woman she fought... she was like some sort of demon! Nothing she could do seemed to faze her for long; it was like fighting the Phoenix King again - a fruitless conflict with a foregone conclusion. If she couldn't win a fight here, there was no way she could defeat him whenever - or if ever - she got back home. Defeated and dejected, Ryvann went to the tent in the arena to watch the next few matches in silence...

Confident yet uncaring of the crowd, hardly even glancing at them despite the roars, Mahla marched towards Brutus, grinning hungrily at the orc.
"I hope you hold nothing back," the slender, armored woman told him as she drew close, taking her spot near the center of the arena.
The solider shed her rigid, militant stance, suddenly stooping like a readied animal. Her shoulders relaxed, her arms hung low, and her gauntlets clutched into metal claws. Her already wide smiled managed to grow.
"Because I will not."

"That's th' spirit!" grinned Brutus the Bull, as he met his smaller opponent in the arena. He raised his fists up in a protective stance and began to bob from side to side on bent knees, readying for the match.
Mahla was thin and short compared to him, which prepared the experienced fighter for one of two possibilities as he awaited the call to fight. Either the woman would rely on exceptional speed and agility, or she would wield an unseen source of power to enhance the force of her attacks. Noting her armor and her choice to fight him bare-handed, Brutus was prepared for the latter.

As the fighters assembled in the central arena, the burly frame of the orc referee lumbered into view.
"A'ight, I know you know th' rules, Brutus," the referee said, before looking to Mahla. "And I'm hopin' you've grasped'em by now after th' first three bouts."
The referee took a few steps back, before tapping his staff on the ground three times and nodding to the announcer.

Before the pixie's voice stopped echoing through the Xue Club, Mahla charged, launching herself from the tips of her toes with a feral shout. Without clutching her hands into a fist, she swung heavily at Brutus, attempting to strike his upper arm with the heel of her hand...!
