"Well well, what do we have here?" a curious voice reached the assassin's ears.
It was a woman who had walked up the stairs of the ruined building, the fired waitress from the Violet Bar. However, now she had on a different set of clothes, the old cafe outfit. She slowly walked over to the wounded girl. "Did Demmy do this to you... or that tall smokey bitch? Damn... That really does suck..."

"Adra!" Kyra shouted from next to the violet bar. Green eyes were growing wide with concern as she watched the farfadet ascend into the sky. "Adra, come back!"
"Fuck," she cursed, bringing her gaze down to the buildings around them as she searched for the second shooter. Whoever had severed the demon's leg had avoided center of mass, like she had. Did he have his own reasons for wanting the demon alive? Was that why Adra had taken his body, or was she working against the shooter? And most importantly, was she in danger from him?
"Lora, can you follow Adra? Try to call her down if you can."
Two rings formed around Kyra's irises – one red, one green. The world before her transformed into a monochrome of green, with orange and red outlines of infrared figures inside the buildings. She searched until she spotted the telltale silhouette of a rifle in the arms of a man at one of the windows. She raised her own revolver and determined a perfect arc with which she could hit the tip of his barrel if he aimed it in Adra's direction...

Although she didn't hear it, the human that had caught Cipo's attention did not go unnoticed by Vesyka.
"I see it," Vesyka answered. The silver of her eyes shone brightly. She could make out the distinct aethereal figure of two humanoids trapped by the raven inside, and a third humanoid pinned by a large number of ravens on top of the roof.
Vesyka knew she had to act, regardless of whether Cipo would see her. The lives on the line were more important than keeping her secret hidden.
"Cipo," she said quietly. Her mouth had twisted into an uncharacteristic frown, but the concerned eyes that looked up at the lebran woman remained familiar, in spite of their silver glow. "Please, do not be afraid."
A blast of silver light erupted from Vesyka's body. For a split second Cipo could see a shining skeletal shape, like that of a great serpent, rising from the blinding light that surrounded Vesyka's body. Then, with an earsplitting screech like tearing steel, Vesyka was swallowed in a shroud of pure darkness that engulfed the serpentine skeleton, as though the night itself had gained sapience and mass and meant to devour Vesyka alive.
Before Cipo could get a good look at the developing beast, the entire block was plunged into an unnatural darkness that smothered both the warm glow of streetlamps and the cold light of the stars, until nothing remained but blackness. Cipo heard the flapping of great wings and felt a rush of wind blow into her like a small hurricane as something streaked towards the now blind raven at the doorway.
Something long and thick ensnared the bird around its breast like the coils of a great snake, and plucked it from the window as easily as one would pull a grape off its stem. Several more tendrils flew up towards the birds on the rooftop, their advancement concealed by the darkness that had fallen over them...

The blades cut through the eye tentacles, and blackened blood spilled onto the ground. And yet, despite the pain, Demmy refused to back down. This suffering, this agony... it was nothing compared to what she had experienced before, and if she could live through that, then this she could endure!
She was forced to inhale, but instead of a powerful gust of wind, the same fell energy that her tentacles had fired out now launched from her open mouth. The first of the two giants was struck in the neck, where the energy sphere detonated. The golem was sent sprawling back from the hit, the front side cracked and head almost blown clean off its body. The second found a second energy sphere aimed right for it...

"Curt... Curt, there's a lot of stuff going on down here!" Xero tried to say. "The demon is down, but-"
"I know. I have eyes. I can see what's going on..." The voice came from the other end of the comm unit. "I don't know what their beef is with that demon, but... Seems I'm being aimed at from Wisma's place. Someone's not a fan of me."
Chal raised an eyebrow. The Violet Bar? They had just come from that direction. What would... "Are you going to take the shot?"
A moment of silence passed, then the answer came through: "The demon's no longer moving. As far as I can tell, he's dead. You two keep going to the epicenter. I'll cover for you... while making sure I don't get sniped at again." If either of them had the eyesight to see, they would have noticed that the sniping form of Curt had shifted his aim away from the retreating figure. "A dead demon's none of my business, but all these live ones are."
"Clear to us!" Both Chal and Xero stated. With the coast seemingly clear, they resumed their dash toward the light heading up in the sky...

It had been hell on earth for Micah. Her struggles, her flailing, her attempts to get to her feet and run or fight back had been denied by the Hell Ravens. She could feel the saliva from their beaks dripping against her neck and legs.
"Don't struggle against the will of your master." The Hell Raven next to her head whispered. "You cannot fight fate, no matter how hard you try, my child. All I wanted from you was to do as I said, and you ran and hid for so long. But don't worry, when you're back with me, disobedience will never enter your mind aga-"
That was when the darkness fell, and everything went black, for both the ravens and for Micah. Sqwaks and caws of confusion filled her ears, and the fluttering of wings beat out. The load on her back was suddenly gone, but she didn't rise, not yet. One by one, the beating of wings was silenced, and so were the caws of the Hell Ravens, until only one remained, the sound of the lead Hell Raven desperately dodging and weaving the unseen assailant that was attacking it, to get as far away as possible...

Though the pressure on her skull made Mussurana grimace, the corners of her mouth soon curled up and her black eyes glittered darkly.
"You resists death," the lebran sneered as she reached up and used her free hand to begin melting the ogre's fingers. "But you should not. Your death is ordained. It is demanded. By my mother Falajax. It is the way things should be."
-
Reflexively, the assassin rolled onto her stomach and raised her crossbow at the woman. Her stubby finger pulled on the trigger.
But nothing happened. The draw string had snapped.
With an angry sob, the diminutive hitwoman threw the weapon to the ground.
"Go away!" she demanded hoarsely.
-
Though Lora seemed annoyed by the request, her lip curling up, she nodded and pulled ahead of Kyra, leaping across the entirety of the street before them and onto the building that the winged figure hovered above...
-
Though the scenery below horrified her, Adra refocused herself on what was right in front of her: the willless soldier in her arms.
Fluttering down into an alley, she laid the infernal down. She could feel the warmth of his blood on her, so the first thing she needed to do was stop the bleeding. She first tried to cauterize the wound, igniting her palm with fire and pressing it firmly to the severed stump of his leg, but she realized it was ineffective. Though her face showed no distress, her fist clenched into a tight, trembling fist that extinguished the flame within it.
Wiping her hand on her shirt- and regretting it was what Vesyka had bought her only today- Adra instead looked for a weed, quickly finding a dandelion growing from a large crack in the pavement. Cupping a hand over it, the odd girl conjured a soft, green light that extended the small weed into a long, fibrous vine which she uprooted and pulled taut.
As she began tying the vine tightly around the bleeding stump as a tourniquet, there was a gentle footfall behind Adra that pricked her ears. Whipping her head around, Adra saw a tall, pale woman with fierce yellow eyes crouched at the entrance to the alley, hunched over like a predator that had just touched down from its high, looming perch...
-
"W... What was that?" Nauyaca mumbled.
Alex stared out the window. "I don't know."

The second giant had no time to react, caught flat footed by its comrade's mangled, dying body crashing into its frame. The orb fired by the demonic woman struck true, exploding in an eruption of dark magic. Scraps of iron and slag blast outwards before the iron beast collapsed in a mangled heap with the corpse of its comrade. But Demmy had little time to cool down, however, as two more of the iron creatures approached the female figure, cursing her out in some strange language. The figures raised their bladed arms, as if beckoning for her to fight them up close and personal.
After a few moments of struggle, the metallic fiend Mussurana confronted soon succumbed to her fell magic. The creature's torso melted into a mound of molten slag, bubbling and sizzling at the Rhea's feet. The creature gripped her head tightly for a few moments afterward, before the monster falls limp, and collapses into a heap upon its melted torso. From Mussurana's side, a final member of the iron creatures approached her and lashed out with a scissor slash of its arm blades, hoping to avenge its fallen comrade...
The darkness that blanketed the city seemed to give the encroaching army of fiends pause. They stared upon the form writhing in the darkness, barely visible even to their fiendish eyes, seemingly curious as to what was going on. Suddenly, the presence within their minds gave them a new directive: capture the source of the darkness at any cost. Immediately, the marching forces turned towards the inky blot and began to converge toward what they could only assume was its general location...
Chal and Xero met little resistance as they headed into the slummy area - the source of this madness. The eldritch light was incredibly bright here, almost blindingly strong compared to how it was farther away. Within the light, the group could see monstrous shapes, like gargoyles, moving within the light, slowly growing larger and larger over time. A terrifying chorus of voices assailed the ears of Chalodna and Xero, hissing terrible half-truths and calls for mercy, words of impending doom and past slights. Visions of burning bodies and tortured souls tormented their minds as they grew ever closer to the eldritch lights, and it seemed like shapes were dancing all around them in the shadows at the fringe of their eyes, mocking them and watching patiently...
From the dying form of the fiendish knight, one word croaked out from the being's lips.
"Q-qoura?" the voice hissed pathetically.

Kyra breathed a sigh of relief and holstered her gun. Whoever the sniper was, he seemed to at least have the good sense to avoid shooting at Adra or the demon she carried.
Quickly scanning her environment, Kyra found Adra's distinct infrared outline not in the sky, as she had expected, but deep inside of an alleyway. She hadn't gone far.
After checking to make sure Leslie still had eyes on her, Kyra took a running jump and leaped the width of the street as easily as Lora had. Rolling into her landing on the roof, she followed the path Lora had taken towards the alleyway...
–
For a moment the roaring wind went silent, and the unseen tendrils seemed to cease their assault.
Until something huge soared through the air only a few feet above Micah. Hurricane force winds whipped at her hair and clothing, and beyond the darkness that blinded her a dozen tendrils surged forwards at once. Like a great net they fell over the final bird, and a final metallic screeched ripped through the sky.
Then everything was still.
Like a black fog the darkness dispersed, and light shone back down onto the city block. The ravens were gone, as was any trace of Vesyka or the creature of darkness. All that remained were a few feathers from their struggle.
The thunder of approaching jet engines broke the temporary silence.
Screaming across the night sky towards the approaching demons were three distinct shapes – T-shaped aircraft that resembled fighter jets at a glance. As they passed by overhead, brilliant flames exploded from downwards-facing thrusters on backwards-curved wings. The three crafts slowed to a hover, spreading out and surrounding the horde of infernals in the streets far below...
–
Far from Mival, deep in the forests of the small island of Lall, a dark shape emerged from the shadows of the understory. Several ravens erupted from the darkness, shrieking and cawing and flapping madly into the sky. From the shadows, a small silver-haired figure watched them.
"Please do not go near the city again," Vesyka scolded the ravens. "Humans are not prey. You are very lucky that people did not hunt you. Please stay here on this island; there is lots of food and space, and there are not any people here."
The darkness started to envelop her as she made to return to Mival...

The arrival of the jets above made Demmy pause. She had heard about this kind of sound, of these strange craft from Molly. Apparently, Mankind was capable of quite a few things in Molly's world... and apparently some of that was here in this world as well. But were they here to defend the city... or help ransack it as well?
She'd leave that note for later.
She focused back on the two giants that taunted her. If it weren't for the wounds she was already covered in, she would have been more than happy to oblige. But as she stood... She wasn't interested.
After all, why bring a knife to a knife fight when she had a gun?
She slowed her breathing, and concentrated her energy. Once again, the netheral power within her gathered into her mouth, but she didn't discharge it so soon. Instead, the orb continued to grow, forming outside of her mouth, until it was almost twice the size of her head. Only then did she fire it, the orb seeming to aim right between the two titans... only to split in half, each half aimed at the head of one golem...

The dancing lights, the burning bodies, the insanity that was unfolding before them... it was almost too much for Chal to take in. Yet, she knew it wasn't real. A feeling in her gut told her so, that it was all a part of her mind. Whatever it was that was the cause of this, was trying to scare them off... and it wouldn't work on her. "Xero, we're getting close."
"I know, but this kind of madness, what even is all of this?! I want none of this!" The city guard cried out. He was drenched in sweat, eyes darting to the left and right, avoiding what he could. "I'm sorry Chal but... I never signed up for this!"
"You signed up to protect the city." Curt's voice rang out to them, just barely audible in their comms over the roars of the jets. " And that's what you're doing. The Master wouldn't be happy if one of his guards went full chicken on him, after all. Actually... I think I see Vasaluta's sights locked on you right now."
A gruff, deep cough came through on the comm unit, which made Xero's blood run cold. "He's right. I always wanted an excuse to shoot... So, you going to try and help the city, or do I get to indulge in one of my oldest past times, Xero?"
Chal shook her head. "Please don't actually shoot him. That won't help anyone ou-"
"Fine!" Xero shouted. "Fine! I'll keep with it. Just... how far are we to the damn source?"
Vasaluta's voice chuckled, a suffocated sound accompanied with the popping of mucus. "Not too far. You're getting close. Don't worry, we both got your backs covered."

"Whoa, calm down there, pipsqueak." Heather said. "I saw you getting fucked over by Demmy and that ashy woman... and you were trying to kill their friend, right?"
She walked over to the assassin's side, and hunched down. "I've been screwed over by them as well, and their boss, the owner of that shitty bar. But, you seem more desperate than me. We both share a common goal, so... I'm extending out my hand to you. I have a plan, a way to ensure you can get to your target, and also get revenge on Demmy and that smoky bitch. A guarantee, you can say, a way to assfuck them so bad, they'll never walk again even in death."

Micah weakly rose to her feet. The... The ravens... They were gone? Someone... had taken them away?
She looked around wearily. Even still, she felt so cold for some reason. So cold... and with her head hurting. The noise... the noise from these jets, from the everything... it was so painful, but... if it came at the cost of being freed of the nightmare for now... so be it.
She looked back toward the source of the light. It wasn't too far off from here. She felt the back of her neck, and felt the blood there. It was a small cut, but... nothing to worry about for now, she hoped. First, she'd have to find a way to get to the light...
____________________________
To say Circe was shocked would have been an understatement at this turn of events. This... This woman, this girl... This wasn't something she had seen in her visions, this anomaly. Was this some native god of this land? A foreign divine being? No, the power from it... it was both divine and... sinister at the same time. Similar, but not quite the same as her own. This kind of power, this being...
SHE NEEDED IT. And already, already a plan was starting to unfold in her mind...
"WAIT." The lead raven hissed. Its four eyes peered into the shrouded form of Vesyka, and its fangs bared. "You... That voice... My Master of Miracles! It is you, my god and my lord!"
The raven flew forward, as did the others around it. "We saw your coming.... I, your most humble vessel, have awaited your return for so long! Stay with us, guide us once more! You have changed so much, but it is still you!"

With a chuckle, Mussurana turned and hurled something at the last ogre: the half-melted hand of is comrade. With a loud slap, the semi-fluid object was caught in the giant's scissor attack. The molten metal could not dry quick enough to glue the arm blades of the brute together, but it gave it enough pause to allow the nimble lebran to scamper up its arm and whirl around its head, legs looked around its shoulders. The burning hands of the warrior wrapped around its throat...
-
"Van cinmegi uhiru," the stranger commanded as she rose to her full height, which was impressive, though not quite as tall as Adra. The girl did not understand her tongue, but she recognized her tone.
Adra stood as well, placing herself defiantly between the newcomer and the knight. Her eyes stared forward, hard and cold, but word drifted back, soft and low.
"Qoid uleqoes dabat."
-
Teary eyes, wide and blue, stared up at Heather. The tiny woman stared for a very long time, as if she could not physically process what the taller woman was offering.
"I... I- If you're lying," she sniffed at last, "I'm s-still going to kill someone."
-
When Kyra arrived in the alley, she was greeted by the sight of Lora pinned to the ground by Adra, a spidery hand forcing her head down and a bony knee dug into her back.
The lebran woman growled and squirmed under the weight of the younger woman, but her strength far exceeded both her lanky frame and hers. Her body was quite dense too.

Heather flashed what appeared to be a sincere, honest smile at the small woman. "Oh, I know. That's the base nature of humanity: to kill and maim when disgraced. But believe me, I'll let you make that girl beg for death's sweet embrace, and I can ensure that not only won't either of those two get in the way, but won't have any say in the matter."
She held out a hand to her. "So, what do you say? I have a good hunch where to find the right... tools and bait for the job are, and if everything goes well... Then you can do whatever the fuck you want, and no vapid bitches are going to ruin your luck. My only stipulation is I prefer that woman to remain alive but... there's a lot you can do to her to make her wish for death instead, and if an... accident happens, well, that's none of my goddamn concern."

The low flying aircraft caught the attention of the infernal hordes, who watched the strange flying machines with curiosity Was this some sort of creature native to this world? The infernal beings opened fire upon the airplanes, firing a volley of flaming arrows toward the aircraft to test their defenses. The iron creatures meanwhile picked up and threw objects they could find at them in an attempt to strike them down....
Demogorgon's orbs struck true. The impact of the spheres obliterated the iron creature's heads in a shower of sparks and iron. The creatures stumbled backwards, before collapsing in a metallic heap. Meanwhile, the iron golem-like monster Mussurana grappled let out a metallic groan, reaching for its opponent with grasping hands. The creature snatched Mussurana's wrist and attempted to force her down upon the gnarled crown of horns upon its head...
The knight merely nodded towards the stranger who had spared his life, teeth gritted in pain, before he fell into a tumultuous sleep-like state once more...
A terrifying voice boomed within the minds of Chalodna and Xero. It echoed like a thousand voices at once, mixed with malice, pain, and hate, each distinct yet also indistinguishable from one another.
" You are fools if you think you can threaten us. you are weak: individual, selfish, worthless, alone. Tis the toil of mortality to live alone and die alone. But become one with us, and you will never be alone. You will be unified. You will have a purpose beyond your pathetic mortal coil. You will become greater than you could ever be as an individual. Succumb to the futility of your struggle. Join us."
A terrible pain assailed Chalodna'a and Xero's minds, as if something was attempting to worm its way into their psyche....

"Adra, let her go!"
There was a certain edge to Kyra's shout. Her tone was not overtly hostile, but instead almost disciplinary, not unlike a mother to a misbehaving child. It was the same tone than T.J had used on her several times in the past.
"Adra..." she repeated, softer now. Recalling that the woman couldn't speak English, Kyra raised open palms in the air as a sign of peace, a sign that she hoped Adra would understand. Her eyes, still seeing the world in monochrome green, drifted down to inspect the fallen demon. The vine wrapped tight around its leg confirmed why Adra had taken it away.
"Vesyka sent us," Kyra said slowly, emphasizing her friend's name. "We're friends of Vesyka."
Slowly, she dropped to a crouch. In the event that raised hands couldn't get her message across, Kyra hoped that making her silhouette appear smaller would. "Please, let Lora go."
–
Wide eyed and mouth agape, it took a long time for Vesyka to respond.
"You..."
She swallowed in an attempt to wet her dry throat.
"You can speak."
A sickly weight settled in her gut. These ravens were not animals. They hadn't been predators, searching for food. They were like people.
And they had killed children...
Vesyka could feel the familiar coldness of the Phantom stir as furious tears came to her eyes. Reeling from both shock and anger, she could not register the raven's words.
"Do not..." she struggled to say, attempting to keep her breathing even as tears fell down her cheeks. The shadows around her darkened, and the same terrible screech echoed across the jungle as Vesyka faded into the darkness. "Do not come to the city ever again."
–
Vesyka blinked her wet eyes as she reappeared on the streets of Mival, just in front of the doorway that the raven had been attacking. She could see Cipo, but could not muster the strength to say anything to her.
–
The arrows left scratches on the armor of the VTOL crafts, but they were otherwise unable to damage their hull. The agile crafts swerved left to right, dodging the heavier projectiles thrown their way with the grace of oversized dragonflies. There was a shrill whine as their triple-barreled canons began to rotate.
A hailstorm of bullets shredded into the formations of outsiders. As the VTOLs strafed the army their canons tore through their front lines, their flanks, and their rear guard in an attempt to surround their forces and halt the spread of destruction...

With the last of the infernals she had been facing downed, Demmy finally slumped onto her hands and knees. Everything hurt for her, and it hadn't even been that severe of punishment. Was she that out of practice, that weakened over her long ensealment and three months of inactivity?
"Demmy! Demmy, are you okay?!" Molly's voice called out. The girl began to move to the window. Do you need he-"
"I'm fine, Molly. Just stay there." Demmy wheezed. Now she flopped onto her stomach. "I just... need a moment or two... to rest... and I'll be fine. There's still these... infernals running around, so don't leave until it is completely safe... okay?"

Both Xero and Chal were forced to hold their heads as the voice echoed through their minds and wracked their brains. Where was it coming from? It seemed to be everywhere, and yet... "Get lost, you demonic hellspawn." Chal spat. "No one's scared of your cowardly mind tricks. If you want us gone... maybe show yourselves to us."
"C-c-c-can we not, please?" Xero begged, taking the mental assault worse than Chal was. He was sweating far worse than he had been before.
"No. We're not budging until this is all over, or we're dead."

The hell ravens screeched and flung themselves at Vesyka, but it was too late. The girl was already gone, and they flew into thin air.
"Damnit... DAMNIT!" Circe's voice echoed through her servant's minds. "That power... She's back in that city, I know it. Go, fly back there and observe and keep track of her. Don't let yourselves be known to her for obvious reasons. I have other island things to settle, it seems."
The ravens, understanding their role, took to the skies, and began to head back toward Mival. They weren't going to let the words of some girl keep them at bay. Not when the potential reward outweighed the risks...

The smaller woman staggered to her feet without accepting the extended hand.
"F- Fine," she lied. "S... She lives. But the other two... they'll s- suffer for her."
-
Releasing her leg lock on the creature's neck, Mussurana used the force to flip herself off the ogre rather than onto its thorny crown. As she planted her feet to the ground, the enormous lebran transferred the momentum into the giant, attempting to pull it off its feet and throw it to the ground...
-
Slowly, Adra rose and allowed Lora to pick herself up off the ground. The lebran still had an arm pinned to her back however. The gangly girl rotated the Pientan towards Kyra before releasing her with a slight push. Stumbling forward, Lora turned and hissed, "Parru!" at Adra as she steadied herself.
"She is very strong," the lebran grumbled to Kyra as she rubbed her wrists.
"Oh Christ."
Leslie splashed through a puddle and into the alley. Her borrowed revolver lowered, but her firing arm was far from slack as she looked at Adra.
"What the hell is that? Kyra, you're treating it real casual like, so I hope it's a friend."
Lora scoffed. "Not mine."
The girl in question titled her head. "Vesyka obe ast?"
Her brow glared and her lips sneered, but the tone of her husky voice did not seem angry. Her eyes, black and empty, gave no clues either.
-
"Oh, Vesyka."
Cipo approached the much shorter woman and grasped her shoulders gently.
"I knew you were special. Your hands heal. But I had no idea your powers were so great. Are you too a demigod?"
Now that she was closer, the Pientan noticed the tears clouding Vesyka's eyes. Cipo tilted her delicate chin up with a finger. "Vesyka? Are you alright?"

Before the might of the flying machines, the ill-prepared infernal army stood little chance. The aerial vehicles obliterated dozens of soldiers in a matter of moments, very quickly turning the tide from "near unwinnable conflict" to "possibly manageable battle". It seemed that the infantry forces had little that could defeat the aerial vehicles, though they continued to try with their arrows and thrown objects....
The iron beast bellowed and fought, struggling to keep its footing against the might of the Rhea. Though the ferrous colossus was not pulled completely off its feet, the sheer brute strength of behind the Lebran's tug caused the creature to stumble from its loss of balance, leaving it open for counterattack...
A malevolent laugh filled the air around Chalodna and Xero as the stabbing sensation in their heads became more painful.
"That can be quite easily arranged."
From the swirl of eldritch light, a roar erupted. In a torrent of eldritch flame, four winged figures emerged from the light and rocketed into the sky, formed still shrouded in flame. They seemed to be heading towards aerial vehicles, clutching burning forks made of sickly green stone. A new, larger shape seemed to be forming in the light, appearing akin to a fiendish, man-like shape. A pair of burning orange eyes glared at the two through the veil of flame, light, and smoke, before a monstrous scaled forelimb emerged and slammed onto the earth, the forelimb easily double the height of Chalodna and almost three times the height of Xero.
"Which one of you shall I claim as my pet first? The woman... or the boy?" the fiendish presence boomed, his voice losing any sense of faux pleasantness.

As Demmy caught her breath, the wounds that covered her body slowly began to close back up. The severed eye tendrils began to grow back, regenerating the lost mass and restoring her power. In but a minute, she would be in condition to fight again... But for now, she couldn't help Mussu even if she wanted to. She was simply too spent and drained...

Xero staggered back even more from the imposing limb. "Chal... can we please run now? PLEASE?!" He wimpered.
"Ugh... Fine, You go run off... somewhere, preferrably in the alleyway and stay close by. And I'm sorry, but no one's becoming your pet today, hellspawn." Chal hissed, despite the horrid pain in her mind. "So far, I'm not impressed."
A voice rang through her earpiece. "Both me and Vasa have our sights locked on the portal. Once he comes up, we got the shot lined up."
Chal smirked even with the pain growing ever worse. This poor bastard had no idea what he was getting himself into...

She turned, and made her way for the stairs. The one I want you to go after, and bring back alive, is a woman named Sam, who... I know she has a little base of operations just outside the city. She's muscular, got a fat plump face, red blonde hair, amber eyes, red birthmark above her right eye and an oversized ass ... If you manage to capture her, bring her to me, alive preferably."

"Leslie, it's okay," Kyra stretched a hand out behind her and motioned at Leslie to stand down. Her eyes fell to the bandaged stump of the demon. The fact that Adra had gone to such lengths to rescue the creature assured Kyra that she was peaceful, to an extent. She had not gone for a crippling blow against Lora either, but had instead chosen to subdue her with little physical violence. Kyra deduced that Adra had likely been startled, and wished to protect the injured demon.
So slowly, gently, so that Adra could see she meant no harm, Kyra leaned in to inspect the wound.
"Vessy might be able to fix this," she whispered. "Leslie, you have the radio right? Can you call Vesyka over?"
Glancing up at Adra, Kyra shifted her right leg out from under her and pressed her knee against her chest. She raised an open palm, and pointed to it.
"Vesyka," she explained.
Kyra moved her hand to her own leg, just above the knee. Then she pointed to the creature. "Heal."
–
"The ravens could speak." Vesyka's voice was little more than a hoarse whisper. She flinched as several armored cars rolled past them down the streets, towards the infernal army, and moved closer to Cipo as if for protection. "They... they did not kill children for food, like animals. They... they were murderers..."
–
Ground troops spotted the four flying beasts before the pilots of the fireflies. Once word reached to the pilots of their position, one of the fireflies spun to face the approaching creatures. A hail of gunfire erupted from its rotary cannons in an attempt to shred the infernals out of the sky...

Laughing maliciously, the Rhea slashed a flattened, burning hand at the heels of the ogre. She did not know if this creature had tendons to sever, so she aimed to cleave off its feet entirely...
-
The assassin pushed past Heather to begin stumbling downstairs.
"H... H-Hate her already," she mumbled. "Fine. Meet you where?"
-
Adra's scowling mouth twitched, which put Leslie on edge, but the girl squatted rather moving forward. Cupping a hand over a dandelion between her legs, she conjured a green light, eyebrows pinching in concentration.
When she removed her hands, the weed was several inches taller.
Looking back up at Kyra, Adra pointed between the revitalized plant and the infernal's severed leg.
"Well shit," Leslie swore. Her small, dazzling blue eyes glanced at Lora. "You got magic hands too?"
-
Vesyka was pulled gently into Cipo. The taller woman hugged her.
"And you stopped then," she said quietly. "They will kill no more."
"U- Uh, excuse me?"
Cipo released Vesyka and turned to the cracked door behind them. She made sure to rotate so that the smaller woman was hidden behind her at all times. The face of a young man with shocking blue-green eyes and dark, curly hair peeked out.
"Do you need somewhere to hide?"

Despite the chaos raging on around them, Kyra couldn't help but give a small smile. "I can see why you and Vessy get along."
She pointed to the weed. "Will, um... will that work on his leg?" she asked, pointing next to the stump and drawing a line with her finger to indicate something growing from there.
Truth be told, she didn't know if Vesyka could heal that kind of damage either. She hoped Leslie would be able to reach her.
–
Still blinking away tears, Vesyka poked her head around Cipo to see the owner of the voice. "N-no. We... we are here to evacuate people."
The sound of gunfire down the street made her jump; the infantry seemed to have engaged the demons. "It is very dangerous to stay here," Vesyka continued, with a surge of resolve. "How many are with you?"

Placing a hand on her chest, Adra shook her head. Crouching once more, she reached down and cradled just the dandelion and the dirt billowing around its roots in her hands.
While Adra tried to communicate to Kyra the limits of her powers, Leslie shook her head and withdrew to the entrance to the alley, lifting the radio to her mouth.
She would never admit it aloud, but the tall one made her nervous, so she was hoping Vesyka would arrive as soon as called and serve as translator.
-
"J- Just one, but she's hurt," the young man answered. "B-Badly. She was treated, b... but I'm afraid to move her. I'm not sure-"
"Ves?" a low, twangy female voice came over Vesyka's radio, staticky and quiet. "Ves, you hear me? We could use your magic massage over here."
The young man gasped. He pushed open the door and tried to press close to Vesyka and the radio, but an arm from Cipo barred him. "L-Leslie? Leslie, is that you?"
Then radio was quiet for a moment. Then Leslie answered. "Salman?"
"Y-Yes! Leslie, when did you get here?"
"Not long ago. These folk have been helping me. So this is where you disappeared to, Are Captain MacClearly and Bahn with you?"
"They are! N... Not right now," he clarified, his sea-colored eyes losing their excited sparkle "but they are here."
"Okay. Listen, Salman, I'm glad yer okay, but we should do this later. Ves? You there, hun?"

Nodding grimly, Kyra studied the demon for a moment. She then turned to Adra and pointed to the vine wrapped tight around its leg to prevent bloodloss, then brought her wrists tight together. "We should bind him in case he tries to attack when Vessy gets here," she told Adra.
Leslie's half of the conversation reached her ears, and for a moment she turned back to the woman with a smile. "At least something good has come out of this clusterfuck."
–
"I am here," said Vesyka into the radio. With her free hand, she gently lowered Cipo's arm. If this was a friend of Leslie's, then she would trust him. "We will be over very quickly. Where are you?"
Vesyka ducked under Cipo and the man named Salman and boldly hurried into the darkness of the room. "I will do what I can to help heal her before I take you to Leslie," she explained to Alex.
She slowed as she approached the injured woman, which she quickly recognized as a boran. "H-hello? My name is Vesyka. I am here to help..."
