"Same to you." The damon was smiling again, genuinely this time.
Then, with a flick of her tail, she vanished into the changing room.

Sulis sighed, then went back to her notes. What a curious person.
The door to the baths swung open, and Sulis raised her head back up in time to see several people walk in. She recognized the five of them, especially her most frequent customer.
"Five hundred mites from that dollar you got? Geez, this Tenkarus woman must be a generous lady." Chalodna whistled as she saw the money Demmy pocketed away. "Just, goddamn."
"Exchange rate favorable, so not why." Doris shrugged. "Minutes there two, minutes two back. And easy clean."
Micah raised an eyebrow. "Must have been a short line. But, given last night..."
"It was a rough night for everyone, but at least now we can try to put it behind us." Molly smiled. " Hopefully, the rest of the day goes well."
"We're at the baths, it's going to be swee-"
"Welcome, Welcome." Sulis interrupted Demmy. The group made their way to the counter, where the old woman looked them over. "Some of Mival's heroes, here to relax and wash up?" She looked over them, but her eyes stopped on Demmy. "Four humans and a demon wearing an eyepatch. Not the oddest group I've seen, though I wonder how your parents would think of your fashion sense."
Demmy raised an eyebrow. "Wisma wanted me to wear it, so I am. And how did-"
"Your little proclamation was heard all through the city. Everyone knows, and a few of my earlier customers told me of your little story in the bar." Sulis narrowed her eyes. "Since you're under the thumb of that old crow, I have no reason to worry. She's more of a threat than a defanged Abyssian."
Molly stepped forward to say something, but Chalodna was faster. "Look Sulis, we get not everyone is happy we have a demon lord here in the city, but she isn't the cause of the whole thing that went down last night. She helped sent those infernal assholes packing, and both the Master and The Voice have examined her to see she's not a threat. We just want to unwind and relax here, not have more stress."
"If Demmy does cause any problems here, I'll take full responsibility." Molly finally said. "I promise."
"No, promise both we." Doris stepped in as well, in front of Molly. Demmy could only roll an eye in response.
Sulis looked at them both, then gnawed on her lower lip. "Very well. I trust the young ladies to keep their word. I have serviced demons before, but none with an aura this bad.... but I'll believe you. However, it's double for her. Three mites for each of you, six from her."
Demmy's eye began to twitch, but she said nothing. Seventeen mites were handed over to Sulis, and the owner of the baths took them.
"Have a nice time. I'll be keeping close watch." Sulis warned, as the group waked over to the changing room.
"You really put her in a bad mood the last time you were here, didn't you?" Micah asked.
"Unintentionally, but yes." Demmy could only sheepishly admit.
Molly could only shake her head. "Demmy, just please don't cause any more trouble. Just, please?"

Not long after the group walked into the changing rooms, another group entered through the front doors of the bathhouse. They were led by a tired-looking woman with an orange bandana and messy sand-colored hair, and a small silver-haired woman who gazed around the room nervously.
"Hey, Sulis!" Kyra greeted. Her smile was alite with energy despite the bags that were beginning to form under her eyes. It was obvious she hadn't slept much the previous night, but she didn't seem to mind.
"For three, please," she smiled, placing down a pile of mites on the counter. "And a swimsuit for Vessy here." Kyra reached out and wrapped her arm around the shoulders of the silver-haired woman.
"A-are you not buying a swimsuit too?" Vesyka asked, her pale cheeks growing a shade darker as she was pulled close.
"They're optional," Kyra shrugged. "I use them if I'm doing laps in the lane pool, but I'm just here to relax today."
Kyra glanced over her shoulder at the third member of their group. "What about you, Cipo? Need a suit?"

The pair's humanoid, though obviously not human, companion shook her head, causing a scalpful of long, scaly projections to sway like pendulums.
"I will be fine without swimming trunks," the lebran answered. "I do not have the... parts you would normally wish to hide."
Cipo pulled aside her long, loose shirt, revealing a lack of fatty breasts. Instead, her chest was muscular and toned, more like that of a male human athlete.
Though her tone was matter-of-factly, there was mischief around her mouth and especially in her yellow eyes. She seemed to be anticipating some reaction.

Sulis raised an eyebrow at the bunch. A thin smile crept across her face. "It's been a while, Kyra. You missed the fun that happened last night. A lot went down while you were out of town... and I see you brought some new friends."
She took the pile of mites and put them under the counter. From there, she pulled out a swimsuit, not unlike one would see handed out by a school to their students. "And one swimsuit for the little lady.I wish I was young like you, and had the time to do what I want and live a carefree life. Those days are behind me, but seeing you, Kyra... it brings those memories back in a way."
She cleared her throat. "There are others here at the pool, but no one you should be concerned about. Another all girl group and a Damon."

Vesyka instinctively looked away and up towards the ceiling before Cipo had even finished lifting her shirt, her cheeks turning pink.
Kyra, however, seemed unfazed, though her gaze did momentarily hover towards Cipo's toned body. Noticing the mischief in Cipo's expression, she shot the lebran a grin before she turned back to Sulis. "A damon? Not Baerbel by any chance, is it? We directed her here this morning."

Sulis nodded. "That would be her. She's already in, and I'm sure bathing by now. Enjoy your bath ladies."
______________
In the bath itself, a loud splash rang out from the center of the pool. Chalodna surfaced from the water, and moved her hands back. "Ahhhh... So much better. I don't feel like I'm melting away anymore!"
"What are you, a slime?" Micah shook her head as she walked out of the changing room. Unlike Chalodna's two piece black swimsuit, Micah wore a one piece that was white. She slipped into the water of the pool. "It is good here, though."
"Is good, yes. Good very." Doris surface to her side. Her glasses were off, and her hair was untied and stretched out across the water's surface. She smiled. "Good water, Demmy?"
"Why wouldn't it be? We've been here before, and it's as good now as back then." Demmy and Molly slipped into the water in their swimsuits. It was a matching pair, only Molly's was a light pink and Demmy's a crimson red, both two pieces that covered more than Chalodna's. "And after last night, we need this."
"I will not disagree with you there, Demmy." Molly lowered herself into the pool water until just the top of her head was left exposed. "So warm and pure."
"Canada no springs this have like." Doris smirked. "Mival everything better have."
"I wouldn't know what this Canada's baths are like, but I'll take your word on it." Micah said. She sat against the wall of the pool, and rolled her shoulders. "It's just... bliss here, really."

After returning Kyra's grin, though muted and only for a moment, Cipo dipped her head to Sulis. "Thank you. I am interested in meeting this friend of yours. I have never heard of a 'damon.'"
-
The five women noticed the smell first: a strong, coppery stink at least some of them could identify immediately as blood. Then they could hear footsteps, soft, as if small in size, yet resolute. Whoever was approaching did not hesitate in any way.
"Greetings," a short, hairy figure said through the mist, parting its foggy gray with rusty red. Covered only with bloodstained fur and slapping the damp floor with a naked tail, before them stood a demon-like humanoid with a simian face.

"She looks a bit like a monkey, if you've ever seen one," Kyra told Cipo as they made their way into the change rooms to shower.
"But she is a person," Vesyka added behind as she found the privacy of a bathroom stall to change. "She does not like it when people treat her as an animal."

Molly was the first to notice Baerbel, and for a moment, she was at a loss for words. A... talking monkey.... covered in blood and wounds... talking. "H-h-h-" She stammered, her brain trying to form a proper response, but failing to do so.
"Oh, Hello there." Micah answered. "You are... a daemon, correct? And you seem to be injured."
"I can tend to those." Demmy began to rise up. "I know how to clean out a wound-"
"A-actually... I have her." A voice called from a side room. The door opened, and a hand gestured out to the Daemon. "Mrs. Baerbel, Sulis told m-me you were coming in and-"
The person's head stuck out. She was tall and with blonde hair with sapphire blue eyes. Around her were plain brown robes. Her gaze shifted from the Daemon over to Demmy, who stood and stared at her, then back over at the Daemon.
"U-u-uh, please come in at o-once. This will be over quick!"
Demmy's one good eye began to twitch. "Waiiiit... You..."
"Oh, you know her? She's the pool cleaner. Her and Trent work here to keep the bathing pools clean." Chalodna explained. "Or... do you know her from elsewhere?"
Demmy nodded. "Yeah... but it's not important. I'd rather just relax than start something with a coward angel."
The angel's face paled. "P-please don't!"

Baerbel began walking towards the cracked door and the tall, fair women peeking out from behind it. Her bronzy eyes, however, stayed on Demmy.
"I recognize your voice," the damon informed her plainly. "I am surprised to hear you shy from confrontation. It seems your specialty."

As the damon continued to talk with the angel, the doors to the women's change room opened. A naked Kyra and Cipo walked out – trailing behind them, dressed in a black one-piece bathing suit and red in the face was Vesyka, who was desperately trying, and failing, to keep her gaze directed towards the ceiling.
After waving to Baerbel in the hopes the damon would recognize her, Kyra sat down and slipped into the hot water, stretching her legs out beneath the surface as she soaked in the comforting heat. "Just what I needed," she sighed, closing her eyes and sinking down up to her chin. Her toes bumped into someone's leg underwater and she retracted her legs, giggling an apology.
Once she was sure Kyra's body was hidden from view, Vesyka lowered her gaze and nearly jumped as she recognized Micah. "Oh! I was not expecting to see you here."

"You... You're from... last night." Micah said. "Yes, I do tend to frequent here, if only because my friend all but lives here."
"Hey, I don't live here! I just love the baths and their hot water. It does wonders for my skin."
Micah sighed. "Yes, you do live here, Chalodna. I almost never see you not at the pools when not working." As Chalodna huffed and sunk down. Micah refocused on Vesyka. She had to admit, the swimsuit the girl wore was kind of cute, in a childish sort of way. It was also clear she wasn't quite as open minded as her friends.
"You came with company. I'm glad to see you are alright."
Meanwhile, Demmy rubbed her forehead. "I'd rather not engage in a pointless confrontation. If something important is at stake or if I hold a personal interest, then sure, but otherwise why waste energy and complicate matters? The coward angel is no reason for me to pick a fight, and I'm on a short enough leash as is."
"Yes, please don't antagonize anyone else, please." Molly pleaded. The incidents with Vee, Sam and Alex still weighed heavy on Molly's mind, and she hoped they were alright. "Wisma will kill you if you started something, but... wait, you know the angel?"
The angel in question gulped, and shied a little more behind the door. "U-um, w-we meet a long time ago. I was... homeless and had to c-crash at her parent's place."
"You got kicked out of Heaven because of some law against angel love." Demmy flatly said. You were cast down into the Abyss, and my parents, Gaia and Tartarus, were nice enough to let you and those with you stay at my place. I will admit, angels and Abyssian demons living under the same roof was an interesting experience..."

"It is good to see you are alright too," Vesyka said with a smile as she slipped into the hot water, next to Kyra. "Oh, I do not think I got your name last night. My name is Vesyka."
Although Kyra had offered Micah a smile, her eyes were flicking curiously back and forth between the supposed demon and angel. She had always heard rumors of such beings hiding among the cities and wilds of Lemuria, but until the invasion last night she had never been able to put a face to demons. This woman was remarkably different from the monstrous invaders, however – a demon from another universe, perhaps?
A nudge from Vesyka's small arm broke her concentration. "And this is my friend, Kyra", she heard Vesyka introduce.
Kyra turned her attention back to Micah and Chalodna and smiled again, raising her fingers out of the water and waving them.

"Perhaps, 'coward' is not an insult in your tongue, but to these ears it sounds as if you are confronting her," Baerbel stated, voice flat, but tail twitching irritably. "I do not care if you are, but one should issue a challenge with their head head high."
Cipo, meanwhile, hunched low next to Kyra, resting her prominent bottom on her muscular calves, knees splayed out. Her pale, scaly skin turned much, much darker as it was soaked in the water, nearly matching the color of her amber eyes. She tilted her head closer to Kyra's, her voice tickling the woman's ears. She seemed unbothered by the close proximity of their naked bodies.
If anything, she seemed to creep closer, tiptoeing inconspicuously underwater to close the distance.
"Is that the damon?" she asked curiously, her yellow eyes resting at Demmy.

"The name is Micah." the guardwoman explained with a gentle smile. "My assistant is Chalodna."
"We both work as hard as possible to make certain the city is safe, but right now it's glorious off time." Chalodna grinned. She reached her hands up behind her head, and cracked her neck. "Nice to meet you as well, Kyra."
Micah then pointed over to Doris, who was all but glued to the larger Molly's side. "And that is Doris, another guardwoman. Actually, she works... two jobs, part time at the bar, and also as a guardwoman."
"Jobs three!" Doris swam away from Molly and moved up to where Chalodna and Micah were. "Wisma time part, guard job, night job and. Free time little, but rare break now."
_______________
"Is it a confrontation if it is a fact both sides agree on?" Demmy asked with an innocent tone. "It's honestly just that, and she knows it."
"Y-yeah... it's s-something I'm used to, not j-just from her." the angel weakly said.
"That doesn't mean you can keep being rude!" Molly decided at that moment to butt in. "It makes you come across as a bully, and you're better than that."
Demmy rolled her one good eye, and let out a sigh. "Very well. Dumriel, if you happen to see Cercil anytime soon, please tell her I said hi."
"D-dutifully noted." the angel stammered. She turned to the damon. "R-right, your w-wounds..."

Kyra seemed to have recognized the subtler intentions behind Cipo's actions. She smiled politely at Chalodna as the guardswoman was introduced, but under the bubbling water she shifted her weight closer to the pientan's body.
"So all three of you are guards?" she said loud enough for them to hear. "Shit, you girls deserve some time off after last night. Thanks for being there for us."
Then Kyra leaned in towards Cipo as if to whisper in her ear. Beneath the cover of the surface, however, she allowed a hand to drift to Cipo's thigh. "Nah, she's the furry one with the tail up by the door. I've never met this woman."
Vesyka was too perplexed by Doris's speech patterns to have noticed Kyra and Cipo's sudden closeness. After she put together what the strange woman was saying, Vesyka pulled her knees up to her chest and encircled her legs with her arms. "Oh, what is your night job, Doris?"

Cipo slipped her feet out from beneath her, shifting to sit flat against the bath's bottom. As her bare, muscular chest submerged beneath the warm water, her thigh fell fully against Kyra's. Like a sea sponge, her fine scales scrubbed the woman's tan skin gently. The lebran said nothing and hardly even cut her eyes at the human, but she wore a small, secretive smile as she listened to the conversation.
Before following Dumriel, Baerbel turned to the new arrivals. She nodded towards Kyra. "Hello again. Apologies for not greeting you sooner. I was preoccupied. We may speak once I have my wounds attended to."

"Job night...." Doris stammered. She had not been expecting to actually be questioned on what her job was, and she tripped over her own tongue to answer the question. "Depends what employer demands. This sometimes that, other times something else. Kusaĝ-kúr nam-ti ti-na." Doris shook her head. "Night last, retrieval. Cut self accident, though glass fix from."
"You were working all night?!" Molly asked. "Doris... Doris please, I told you before working like that is not healthy for you. And three jobs, just why?"
"Good feels work always, money bad never also." Doris plainly stated. She lay on her back and let herself float on the water's surface, her braided hair undulated back and forth like a sea snake in motion. "No concern needed. Fine really, honest."
Beside her, Chalodna laughed. "That's just our life. An assassin is still on the loose in the city, and there's still clean up to be done. The whole of the guards are busy with their work, and for most it's a thankless job, but one we take pride in."

"Hey Baerbel!" Kyra shouted back. "Go get fixed up, don't let us keep you!"
Beneath the bubbling water, Kyra had begun to idly stroke Cipo's leg, curiously exploring the strange texture of her scales. It was a subconscious action on her part, however – Kyra's full attention was now locked on Chalodna.
"An assassin!? Fuck! Not to add shit to your table, but Vesyka also told me about some giant talking ravens. She said they're responsible for a lot of deaths already and that they might return to the city." Kyra's expression darkened. "She thinks they might be working for someone. Keep on high alert, okay?"
The silver haired woman in question had drifted closer to where Demmy and Molly sat. "Um, hello," she said to Molly shyly. "I did not get your name."
