"I believe most do," T.J nodded sadly. "And, if I understand, not entirely without reason. I wish this wasn't the case."
"But surely not every varul thinks that way," she continued. "Surely there are some who wish to resolve Lemuria's racism crisis without resorting to violence. Perhaps one day I will be lucky enough to meet such an individual. And perhaps we could work to develop a solution."
She sighed. "The problem is there are so many people – varuls and humans alike – that would rather demonize cultural differences than embrace them."

Vee was smiling again, warmly this time instead of in humor. "I know someone you'd get along with. He thinks like you. Wants everyone to get along."
Then the humor returned to her grin. "Except instead of wolves, he has a thing for snakes. Maybe you could go pick up exotic girls together, eh, luv?"

This elicited a laugh from T.J. "Perhaps if I'm in Mival in the future I would be lucky enough to meet him."
She paused suddenly. "Perhaps that wouldn't be such a bad idea, actually, going to Mival. Any decent lodging here in London is unpleasantly expensive, and I have friends who should be arriving there within a few days."

"I'd be happy to show you around, luv! Local and all that." The well built woman waggled her eyebrows. "There's even a bathhouse, so we can get wet with each other."
Stroking her hair again, Vee said, "Well, I think I'm dry enough now. Wanna get going, luv?"

"Of course," T.J nodded. In the back of her mind, she knew exactly which bathhouse Vee was referring to. Fox had spoken very highly of the place, though the idea of being seen naked in a coed bath was one T.J wasn't quite comfortable with yet. She wondered if Fox and Vee had ever met each other there.
"The cafe is only a five minute's walk away," she told Vee, leading the way towards the door. "They'll have some special tea that will help with the hangover. I've had to buy it couple of times for one of my friends. She... err, drinks a lot."

"Oh, that... that'd be nice actually. Thanks, hun," smiled Vee gratefully. "And this friend of yours, sounds like maybe me and her would get along, aye? How bout you, darlin? You drink?"

"Occasionally." T.J locked the door behind them before they set off down the hall. "I suppose I'm a woman of wine and cocktails, although I do enjoy tequila during certain occasions. Err... shots, I suppose I should add."
She withdrew her phone as they reached the lift, and sent Fox a quick message stating she would be traveling to Mival to meet her soon.

"Wine and cocktails, aye? Fancy lady," Vee winked. "I'm just a beer gal myself. "
The taller woman then began plucking at the bottom of her shirt once more, her confidence draining before TJ.'s eyes.
"Y- You know, neither of my two roomies drink much... maybe us and your friend can do shots some time? Or you could show me some fancy drinks."

"I'm afraid I'm not a terribly advanced drinker as far as shots are concerned," T.J replied. She swung her right foot on its heel to tap her other shoe while she waited for the lift to reach their floor. "But I would be happy to take you up on that offer. Gosh, I doubt I would last long, though..."

Vee smiled, though more shyly than usual, and nudged T.J. with an elbow. "I'll go easy on you. What if I did two shot for every one you knocked back? If I beat you though, next meal is on you. Uh, if you wanted me again."
"W... We'd call it a date maybe?" she asked after a moment. Her face was pink and she looked firmly ahead instead of at the woman besides her. It had not been her attention to propose that, but the urge had gripped her.

This took T.J by surprise. She reflexively opened her mouth to respond, but hesitated before she could form words. Perhaps it was just a play on words. Perhaps it had slipped out of Vee's mouth before she could think it through. Surely this woman didn't actually mean to ask her out? Not this soon.
And yet, T.J wasn't unaccustomed to behavior like this. Her own best friend had a habit for coming on to people strongly. But even that was only with casual hookups in mind; hardly anything quite like a date.
Realizing she had stood in silence for too long when the lift doors opened before them, T.J scrambled for an answer.
"I-I, err, y-yes! Yes, yes, of course," she stammered, deciding that there was no harm in agreeing considering she would likely be spending the entire day with Vee regardless. That would give her time to get to know her better, and in turn time to develop a final answer. Her cheeks darkened regardless, however, and she scurried into the lift ahead of Vee and pretended to focus on pressing the button to the ground floor.

While T.J. feinted interest in the elevator buttons, Vee made a deceptive move of her own, lifting a finger to scratch her nose in order to hide the wide, goofy, irresistible grin stretching across her face.
"Great! Uh, sorry for springing that on you, dove, but, um... y- you know, it's nice meeting people and y... you gotta hold on a bit when you do, aye? Though maybe it's easier up here than near Mival."

"Oh?" T.J risked looking up at the taller woman as the doors closed and the lift began its descent. "Is it, err... difficult to hold onto people in Mival?"

Vee brushed some of her long, raven hair off her ears. "Well, there's just... it's not as safe. Did you know there's goddamn dinosaurs down there? Crazies too. My favorite waitress in my favorite bar almost got fucking stabbed just a few days ago. Uh, not that it happens all the time," she hurriedly said, worried she might frighten T.J. away. "You just have to have more on your mind. If you stay in the city and keep an eye out for weirdness, you'll be fine. I promise, dove."

"Gosh, London is not without crazies of its own," T.J said. "Many here have turned to crime to feed themselves or their families, particularly outside Central London. I must admit, we don't have many dinosaurs, although I have heard there may be robbers in the London Zoo."

"Really?" Vee asked in bewilderment. Her face was curled in distress. "I mean, I guess it's not that crazy, cause some people keep them as pets, but... those guys are a menace down near Mival. Hate em."
Her expression darkened. "Tyrants too."

"Gosh, so I've heard," T.J's mind trailed back to the horror stories that Fox had told her of the "giant birds" of Farrago, and her throat clenched. She hoped Fox was safe.
"I can't imagine living out in the jungle. Outside the city walls. Gosh, it must be terrifying."

"At first," Vee nodded. "But once you learn what hunts where and when, it's not so bad."
Her sour face slowly lightened. She leaned down to whisper conspiratorially to T.J., unintentionally tickling her neck with long, raven hair.
"Plus... we got a monster friend to keep us safe."

"A monster?" T.J repeated incredulously. She hardly even noticed when the lift reached the ground floor and the doors creaked open. "You must mean a Saurian or Daemon, surely?"

Vee cocked her head. "A demon? And nah, luv, I mean a monster! She's a cutie. Ever had a parrot? Or a dog. Well, she's like having both! Just a titch bigger."
