Demmy finished her last bite of eggs. "Probably, but Molly didn't want that to happen, not at first. However, she was at her last straw and was going to if Heather tried anything else... then we got sucked here, so no longer an option."
She yawned, and took a deep breath. "And the girl in question should be up, so let me-"
"No need to. I'm already here." Molly's voice caught Demmy off guard. The woman was no longer in her pajamas, unlike Demmy, and was showered and prepared for the day. She took a seat at the table they were at. "Demmy, the shower's open for you. Very hot water and lots of soap and shampoo options, including your favorite."
"Wait, they have lavender shampoo?" Demmy rose from her seat. "Sorry Alex but... Let me get cleaned up and changed real quick."

Alex shook his head. "T- Take your time," he told her. He was sure to watch the tall woman head upstairs from the corner of his eye.
"How are you?" he asked Molly in the meantime. "Feeling better? I, uh.. I heard that you didn't get much last night sleep either."

When she was sure Demmy was out of earshot, Molly nodded. "So Demmy told you. I didn't tell her why I woke up screaming but... it was a nightmare I had. A very bad nightmare, and unlike any I've had before. We were in the cafe and... suddenly everything was smoking and on fire. This form in a cloud of darkness crushed Heather's head under its foot, and killed Demmy, before reaching for me."
She cradled her head in her hands, and stared down at the table. "It was so lifelike and vivid. Maybe it's just the stress of me being here wrecking havoc on my subconcious. It has to be."

"Oh," Alex gaped. "Oh God, I- I... I'm..."
Hesitantly, he placed a hand on her arm. He hoped his fingers were not as cold as feared that they were.
"I'm so sorry, Molly. That sound awful. I... I can't imagine what it'd be like if I saw that with Vee and Sam."

"It was... It was horrible. I haven't told Demmy yet because I don't want her to be stressed out over me. She's already stressed enough as is."
She appreciated the warmth from Alex's hands. It was reinviting, really. A soothing effect which brought her turbulent heart some rest.
"That figure in the shroud, it wanted me for some reason. It called me the 'Child of Man', and it was referring to Demmy as 'The Demon Race'... I really must be out of it. Heather's rantings have finally caught up with me. I'm just breaking now, breaking from all the stress and I hate it."

"Hey, you were also just dropped here," Alex added. "That's a lot of stress even before the tyrants and despots and... everything else. I had a lot of trouble sleeping the first few months here. Vee was really bad for a while at the beginning. And Sam was... e- even Sammier than normal. It was tough for all of us. It's normal, so don't worry, okay?"

"I... I guess you're right." Molly brought herself to look up at Alex. "I just need to keep a level head and get over all of this. Otherwise.... I'd rather not think about that."
With a few prolonged breaths, she focused her gaze on Alex. "I overheard you saying you wanted to talk to me about something. What is it, might I ask?"

"O- Oh, right! Um... I... heard a little about how things got between Demmy and Heather. Is... is that all true?"

Molly's face darkened slightly. She quietly nodded, after making sure Heather wasn't close enough to eavesdrop. " Yes. Heather's irrational hatred for Demmy is something that, if I wasn't there to see it myself, I wouldn't believe it either. Though, if Demmy said she's blameless, that's not entirely true."
She placed her head in her hands again. " When Demmy started working at the cafe, she was a little haughty toward everyone. Some arrogance here, a thinly veiled insult there, it quickly reached my notice, and I told her to stop belittling everyone she worked with. She was quick to do so, but it was already too late, as that kickstarted the great war between the two. Don't worry, Demmy never got violent or murderous against Heather, though she told me a few times she desperately wished to do so, but Heather's hatred kept growing no matter how many times I told her to knock it off. The Tasmanian Devil incident and the laxatives in every drinakble water bottle was the final straw and... well, here we are now."

Alex nodded in understanding. He thought it was odd that Heather would begin to hate Demmy with no provocation. "Just... try to keep them contained, okay? Things here probably aren't like they are where you come from. Even somewhere like here it's... rougher. A lot of people seek refuge here, so you guy types who aren't... nice along with everyone else. And I'd hate to see what sort of animal Heather could smuggle in. Some people train robbers, so she could probably get her hands on one of those. That'd be... really bad..."
At some point, Alex became aware of the warmth under his hand and realized he still had his hand on Molly's arm.
"O- Oh, sorry!" He almost struck himself in the face pulling away. "I, u- um... got distracted..."

Molly herself had forgotten that Alex's hand was on her arm until he had pulled away. She was surprised for a moment, but quickly giggled. "No, it's alright. And... I'm trying to keep them both under control. Demmy's easy to pacify, but the issue is, and probably will remain Heather for a while. She never lets a grudge die."
She tilted her head. "And... a robber? What kind of animal is a robber?"

Alex made a face. "I'm sure I mentioned them the other night... o -or maybe not. Sorry. If I did, I probably breezes past it. Robbers are dromaeosaurs. Uh, what most people would call raptors. Not like the ones in movies though. They're... small, but heavy. Like Rottweilers or pit bulls or something. Ones that can climb trees and... l- laugh like hyenas to communicate. It's... really creepy. Just like you wouldn't want to be caught in an open field with a tyrant, you wouldn't want to be stuck in dense vegetation with a robber. They're not fast, but they can turn on a dime."
"U- Um... early, when the three of us were still new here," he continued, face falling. "One almost killed Sam. A big male. Huge. She fought it off, b... but she almost bled out. Looking for help is actually when we first found Mival. She still has a scar."

Despite what Alex had said, Molly's mind still went to the only visual reference she had for a raptor like dinosaur: the movies she had seen when she was younger. All she could imagine was a large scaly hyperintelligent predator using its long clawed hands to open doors and sneak into rooms unknown. For but a moment, a cold shiver ran down her spine. To think that such a monster could easily be able to be anywhere, sneak in unknown, and be far more lethal and dangerous than the giants elsewhere.
"That sounds like it was a bad experience for everyone involved." She finally said. "And... I wouldn't put it past Heather to try and grab one for a prank. I hope she doesn't. I just, don't want to see anyone else get hurt."
Her eyes drifted up, and for a brief second, she thought she saw Heather glancing back over at her, the tiniest traces of a smile on her face. A blink later, she realized Heather was still cleaning up tables. Had she... just imagined that?

"Oh! Right. Um, Demmy said you planned on going to the library before your shift this evening?"

Molly nodded again. "Yeah. She's hoping there's something there that might give a clue as to how to get back home. Something or some hint that could give us a clue, and really I can't think of anywhere else to start. So long as the hope exists, I doubt she'll stop searching."
She leaned back in her chair. "And, I hope there is something there, something we can use as a cornerstone."

"I hope you don't mind if I tag along," Alex said shyly. "There was a notebook I wanted to look at. W- Well... look at it again. It was written by two early arrivals, a Ross Kirklan and Tyra Kaufmann. Both biologist, like me. It's how we know about the tyrants and robbers and despots. They described quite a few... interesting animals. It seems on their earth most fictional creatures... uh... weren't fictional. There are dragons up north. I'd love to see one. They apparently had filament coats that are either pure black or pure white. They sound beautiful. Stage was... it was actually built on the remains of an old camp we think might have been theirs. I... don't know why they left. I hope they did though. Leave, I mean, and didn't.. you know..."

"Hopefully not eaten, but... their notebook might be a good place to start." Molly mused. "And sure, you can come with us. We can always use a helping hand with trying to find information. And... it's really something, seeing so much from so many worlds all in one place."

Alex smiled for the first time since bearing his heart to Sam. "Yeah... I... I'm glad that someone else thinks so too. So, u- um... thanks, Molly."

Molly smiled back. "You're welcome, Alex."
That smiling moment was brought to an end with down the stairs came Demmy. She was changed out of her earlier pajamas and into the Violet Bar's work attire, which Molly was surprised even fit on her. In fact, it seemed to be a perfect fit, not a centimeter too large or too small. "You were right Molly. They did have lavender shampoo!"
"Told you, Demmy." Molly rolled her eyes. "Also, I hope you remember we're heading to the library soon. Alex will be showing us around and coming with us as well."
Demmy took her seat back, and looked over at the man in question. "Surprised, I am not. And is Sam coming along with us?"
