"Quiet ways out?" Demmy chuckled mentally. "Child, you really have no idea what you've gotten yourself into."
"DEMMY!" the voice Demmy had been waiting to hear for so long reached her ears. It was Molly, and she stumbled down the stairs, coughing through the smoke the whole way. "Is it over? Is it safe to come dow- WHAT ON EARTH HAPPENED TO YOUR NECK?!" The woman screamed, now close enough to see the arrow still embedded in Demmy's jugular.
"I'll tell you outside, but I'm glad to see you're safe and unharmed." Demmy smiled. "I wouldn't know what I'd do if you weren't. Micah, mind helping me dragging this person out?"
Micah, still holding her injured arm, nodded, and did her best to ignore the pain as she grabbed the restrained legs of the stranger. Demmy grabbed her hands, and the two moved out of the smoking building, into the street. Thankfully, there didn't seem to be anyone nearby aside from them. "Now I can breath, and not have my ears rattling." Micah said.

Sam, who had accompanied the two taller women, still on guard for the robber, paused as a voice slithered into her ear.
"The one with the white hair isn't human. You can't trust her."
The blonde gunwoman glanced down, and her hard amber eyes met cold blue ones. The bound home intruder stared at her mutely.
"She's trying to play us against each other," Sam told Demmy instead of replying to the stranger. "So I'm going to ask you now."
She looked at the throat of the woman, pierced- uselessly, it seemed- by the arrow. Her lips curled. "What the hell are you?"

Demmy's face turned to Sam, and even as she was carrying the stranger with Micah, there was no hint of a smirk or anything of the sort on her face. "I'll tell you what. I'll let you in on that secret, with everyone else here, once we handle this miscreant. I think that's more urgent than why I have an arrow in my neck."
"I-I mean, it's not unheard of!" Molly was quick to be at Demmy's defense. "In my world, there's stories of people surviving metal poles and bullets through their brains, and even falling from over a hundred feet with almost no injury. This is nothing. It's nothing... it really is nothing." Yet, it was clear Molly's voice was starting to waver at the end, especially as she couldn't stop looking at the arrow.
"Priorities, people." Micah stated. " This assassin deserves more attention than the loud mouth."

"You're twice her size and she's restrained," Sam told Micah without looking at her. "You can handle her for now."
Sam's eyes were only on Demmy. "If you're not going to answer that question, here's another one: where's Alex?"

Demmy set her end of the stranger down on the ground, and waited for Micah to walk over and grab it with her other hand, so both the wrists and the ankles of the figure were in her grasp. "You think you can hold her with that injured arm of yours?"
"Yes. It's nothing." was Micah's response. Behind her, Chalodna finally emerged from the building, sweating profusely and covered in soot, and panting.
"Fuck, it's hot in there! And I need another shower... and the damper's back in... fucking hell."
Demmy cleared her throat, and was about to address Sam, when Molly cut her off. "It was Heather. She told Alex there was a blind dragon to the south of here, and wanted him to go investigate it. We were supposed to go with him but... i sorta had a freak out." She shyly admitted, turning her eyes away from Sam.
"Your friend Alex told us of a monster from your world that could take on the form of any one or anything, and had a bunch of strange children because it could breed with anything."
"Wait, there's a monster like that?" Chalodna asked. "The fuck?"
"Not here in this world." Demmy shut her down. "That's what Alex said, but Molly here... Molly ran off screaming out of the library and halfway across the city because of that. I had to go chase her down, so I couldn't be with Alex."
"I... I-I'm so sorry!" Molly cried out. "I really, really am! It's just... when anything, or anyone can be a giant sinister monster who can do things like that... I can't handle it! I just can't!"
"Please, stop yelling. My ears are still ringing." Micah mumbled...

"And you let him go alone?" Sam demanded angrily. She holstered her piece and began to jog away, though not before sending a glare back at Demmy. "You and your secrets stay away from us."
As she watched her second chance at escape retreat, determined to save some fool who went looking for monsters and glowing with rage at the other blonde and the white-haired woman, the stranger turned her gaze on the girl.
The scared, impressionable girl.
"What if she's wrong?" she whispered remotely into her ear with a twitch of her fingers. "What if she is that monster? Just look at her. That wound doesn't even bother her. She could follow me while I was invisible. She changed the question when she was asked about it. She's hiding something."

"He wanted to go by himself!" Demmy called back at the distancing form of Sam. "He said he'd be perfectly fine, so not completely my fault. Besides, it was either stay by Alex, or make sure Molly was safe. I can't keep my eyes on both of them!"
"Please, stop shouting." Micah winced. "Just, please..."
Unbenownst to the two of them or to Chalodna, Molly was shaking her head, and her eyes were on the stranger. " No... No, that can't be. I don't believe it at all." She muttered under her breath. "You're lying. You have to be lying. Demmy has no reason to lie!" Now she was starting to raise her voice up. "You're getting in my head!"

The stranger struggled not to smirk at the girl's panic.
"Just like she got in mine. Did you know she can do that? I bet not."

"Y-you have to be lying! You're not human! You were going invisible, summoning animals, talking without talking!"
"Molly." Demmy placed a hand on her friend's shoulder, and for a moment, she winced
"D-Demmy... She's... she's speaking things into my ear-"
"I know." Demmy's eyes glared down at the bounded woman. "She's something else. What exactly, I don't know."
"Well, she's not going anywhere anytime soon, no matter what she says." Chalodna said. "And you, that wound's gonna have to be looked at. I don't care if you don't feel its hurting, but-"
"I'm so sorry, but we have to get going" Demmy grabbed Molly by the hands, and began to backpedal. "We're going to be late for our first day on the job, and I can clean and tend to this myself."
Molly, however, had only heard the first part of that. "OH NO! OH NO! WE'RE GOING TO BE LATE!"
"Wait, don't go yet. You need to sta-"
"Sorry, we'll come back to talk another time!" Demmy ran off with Molly in hand, off down the street. "I've love to answer any and all questions, but we got work to do!"
"I said stop!" Chalodna began to chase after them, but her lungs were still burning, and she erupted into a coughing fit. It was no use, she had no way of actually stopping them now. Still, she did have an idea where they were going...
"What a strange, interesting day." Was all Micah said...

As the two ran for the Violet Bar, a voice barked at Chalodna and Micah from behind.
"You two!"
In the time they had been distracted, the larger form of Sam had replaced the stranger in her bindings. Her spine was bent uncomfortably and her wrists were beginning to change color and bloat.
"Get me out," she growled. Her amber eyes were hooded and her face dark with rage and embarrassment. "She changed placed with me somehow."

"What the... What the hell?!" Chalodna was shocked to see it was Sam there. "The hell did she do that?! Oh fuck no, let me get you out of there"! She quickly ran back over, and began to undo the whip that had bound Sam's wrists. "Slippery little bastard, isn't she?"
Micah stepped back. While her attention had indeed been on the withdrawing forms of Demmy and Molly, who were now out of sight, there had been no sound or anything to signify a change had occured. How had the assassin swapped the two of them around..
or was this something else? Her eyes were carefully on what was transpiring. "Chal, something's not right here."
"I know. Fucking shrimp swapping places is bullshit." She undid the binds around the wrist, then the mace's chain around the legs. "Seriously, what the fuck? I know Vasaluta can do some crazy shit with that rod of hers, but some tiny shrimp? What the hell is she?"

Sam sat up, resting on her knees as she rubbed her swollen wrists. The color had left her face and her expression flattened. When she raised her eyes though, their amber surface shimmered blue.
"She's your neighbor," Sam explained in a voice that was not hers, mouth twisted into a psychotic smirk by the words and staying there as if it was the shape they were always meant for.
A finger pointed towards Micah. With a bend of her finger, the not-Sam created a booming cacophony next to, almost directly within, the sensitive ears of the red-clad woman.
Standing- or rather, dismissing her disguise and revealing she had been on her feet the whole time- the stranger sneered at Chalodna and raised an open palm.
With her small, snide voice, she told the taller woman, "You should have bound my hands."
Making a fist, the diminutive assassin faded from the realm of the visible and into the unseen world she had retreated into so many times today...

"MOTHERFUCKER!" Chalodna screamed, trying to lunge at where the woman had been. Yet, all she met was a facefull of dirt and concrete. "Fuck that bitch! Goddamnit, how was I supposed to know?!"
Micah, however, was faring far worse. She was on her side, still clutching her ears, screaming as her sensitive eardrums were shaken back and forth, pounded by the echoes of the unrelenting noise. It took everything she could to struggle to her feet, and a few moments to finally be able to hear. " I... really hate that assassin." She growled, her almost feral eyes darting to the left and right, trying to see where she may have gone to... but there was nothing. "And I know I've seen her before."
Chalodna pounded her fist in the earth, then got to her feet. "That goddamn brat... Next time, I'm cutting her hands off! Assaulting a pair of officers... I'll make sure she never gets a chance to sneak around in this damn city again! I'll go contact Xero and the guards, and tell them we got more than just Unish to deal with."
"And if they can't?" Micah asked. "They can't handle someone who can pretend to be anyone else. or can use actual powers or magic."
Chal shook her head as she began to walk off. " I'll tell the old putrid troll and her group of it, if worse comes to worse. I'd REALLY rather not see her get involved, but two murderous assassins in this city... what the fucking hell?"
"I knew something was off." Micah muttered, before waving Chal off. She in turn walked back into the office building, where now the smoke was starting to reside. There was damage here, but that could easily be fixed. And there was also the issue of that Demmy woman...
But most importantly, this magic user... she had heard of someone with that description before. She walked back over to the files in back, and once more began filtering through them one by one. In here, there had to be this shape shifter...

On a nearby rooftop, the stranger materialized, though not looking menacing over her quarry as before. Instead, she was fallen to her hands and knees, breathing raggedly. Thick, gray-tinted strands of saliva fell from her gasping mouth. Her throat as on fire. Between that monster woman strangling her and the smoke she had been unable to resist inhaling, it felt as if a hot brand had been thrust through her body. If her voice was not naturally small and unemotive, they surely would have hear the wheeze in her voice.
"Dammit," she rasped softly.
Dammit, dammit, dammit!
That should have been easy. If that girl had not been so transparent, it would have been easy. If that monster woman had not shown up, it would have been easy. But they had! And it had all fallen out of her control!
The worst thing was that she knew she would not be able to get back at that idiot girl and her unnatural friend. How could she see her when she veiled herself? She could not even know if that disguise would have worked on her. She was too big of a danger, too large an unknown. It was infuriating. She could not even fantasize about slitting her throat. She might survive. And under her protection, the idiot girl was safe too.
Staggering to the edge of the roof, the assassin glared out at the still smoking building she had invaded. Her blue eyes were ice. If she could not get revenge on those two, the others would be punished in their their place.
Her thin lips twisted into an angry grin. She would kill the one with the bulbous chest first. She would slice her ridiculous front open and let her bleed out in front of her companion. And that would only be the start.
Raising to her feet with a weak grunt, the stranger began to shuffle away, hand to her throat. Her fingers were coated with frost to sooth its bruised surface.
First, she would rest.
Then, revenge.
